Our mission is to improve preparedness worldwide.
Our method is to have fun doing it.
What is preparedness? Don't overthink it—you do it every day.
You prepare for dinner by buying groceries ahead of time.
You prepare for vacation by planning your itinerary and packing appropriately.
It's easy to prepare for something you expect to happen, especially when you're looking forward to it.
But the unexpected is often scary and unwanted; an earthquake, a fire, an act of terrorism.
We don't like to think about disasters or unexpected hardships, so we don't prepare for them. And when they happen anyway, it's too late.
After 9/11 people recognized the importance of increasing preparedness at all levels. Fire departments and other disaster relief agencies developed and improved systems for working together, and programs like CERT — Community Emergency Response Teams — were established to make sure individuals and communities were prepared to fend for themselves in a disaster, taking pressure off critical emergency services.
In this spirit, Earthquake Weather exists to improve preparedness. Individually and collectively.
We're just getting started, but we look forward to having fun and being of service.
